Offensive MVP
Antonio Gandy-Golden - WR Liberty Flames

There are a number of exceptional receivers in the state but as far as value is concerned, none possess more than Flames wide-out, Antonio Gandy-Golden. On four separate occasions AGG has had 6 or more receptions and in each of those games, Liberty has scored at least 41 points. After missing the contest against Troy due to an illness, he returned a week later and exploded for 10 receptions, 142 yards and 2 TD's.
Defensive MVP
Jimmy Moreland - DB JMU Dukes

Honestly, if you're throwing within a 10 yard radius of Jimmy Moreland, you're making a big mistake. The star CB has 4 interceptions on the year...THREE of which have been returned for a touchdown. He does more than intercept passes too. In the Dukes' key game against Villanova, Moreland had a sack, a forced fumble and a tackle for a loss. JMU is allowing just under 10 points a game and Jimmy Moreland is a large reason why.
Newcomer of the Year
Bryce Perkins - QB UVA Cavaliers

For the first time in 14 years, the Hoos' are bowl eligible for back-to-back seasons. On top of that, they entered the AP Top 25 this week. While the defense has been great, and Olamide Zaccheaus has been incredibly consistent, Bryce Perkins has been the difference maker for UVA. Through 8 games, Perkins has thrown for 1,600 yards, 15 TD's, ran for 750 yards and 6 TD's. With Pitt, Liberty, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech on the horizon, expect these numbers to improve.
Coach of the Year
Bronco Mendenhall - UVA Cavaliers

When UVA fired Mike London they needed to hire someone who could do more than just recruit; they needed a coach who could change the culture in Charlottesville. In his third year, everything is clicking for Bronco. No, the offense isn't going to blow anyone away statistically but the name of the game for Bronco is efficiency. UVA currently ranks 18th in the country on third down conversions. How important is that? Alabama ranks first in that category for starters. The Cavs' defense ranks 17th in the country, allowing just 17.5 points per game.
With a 6-2 record (4-1 in ACC play), UVA currently leads the ACC-Coastal division and has a real opportunity to reach the ACC-Championship. Picture this. Their expected to be favored in all of their final four games; meaning 10-2 is feasible with an ACC-Championship appearance. Basketball season may start in a week but for now, who cares? The Cavs' football team is on the verge of an unprecedented season.
