#1. Virginia Tech -

Finally, Justin Fuente has a major win on the road as the Hokies crushed FSU on Monday. Bud Foster's defense answered the call, holding the talented Seminoles' offense to just 3 points. They'll get a break this week, hosting William & Mary.

#2. UVA -

The Hoos' finally have a threat at quarterback. Despite an early interception, Perkins threw for 185 yards, ran for 108 yards and had four combined touchdowns. In addition to Perkins, RB Jordan Ellis made an argument for player of the week with 146 rushing yards on just 20 attempts.

#3. JMU -

Overall, the Dukes' had a solid opener against NC State. 27-13 against a power five opponent is a respectable score, and JMU kept this a one possession game until just a minute left in the 4th quarter. However, there are some concerns as the Dukes' offense struggled in the red-zone and star cornerback Rashad Robinson was declared out for the year.

#4. Liberty -

Liberty's home opener really couldn't have gone any better. Just over 20k in attendance, a 52-10 throbbing of in-state rival ODU, and a vastly improved defense. That defense will be put to the test this weekend as the Flames take a trip up north to face Army.

#5. ODU -

These past 7 days have not been kind to Monarch fans. Star running back Jeremy Cox is playing hurt, quarterback Steven Williams is still struggling and a blistering loss on the road. Fortunately, Bobby Wilder's team will play at home this week. They face Florida International, whose coming off a 10 point loss to Indiana.

#6. Richmond -

Few expected the Spiders to replicate their performance against UVA from a couple of years ago. But this Saturday proved UofR has a lot of work to do if they have any hope of a FCS playoff spot. Only 34 rushing yards and 7 of their 13 points were from a pick-six. They will come home this week to play Fordham.

#7. William & Mary -

Most everyone expected the Tribe's opening game against Bucknell to be a toss-up and the game lived up to those expectations. Both defenses held strong but Shon Mitchell's 75 yard pass to DeVonte Dedmon gave William & Mary the 14-7 win.

#8. Norfolk State -

Norfolk State last played Virginia State a year ago and came up short 14-10. Despite a sluggish start, NSU took over in the 4th quarter and sealed the deal against the division 2 foe and in-state rival. There wasn't much to take away from this game but CB Nhyre' Quinerly dominated the game with 2 interceptions. The Spartans get a true test this weekend as they host FCS power James Madison.

#9. Hampton -

Hampton took care of business on Saturday, beating division 2 Shaw, 38-10. But the game was far from perfect. Delmon Williams threw a pick, and the Pirates gained just 106 rushing yards on 37 attempts. For this offense to work properly, they have to run well. Unfortunately, they don't have much time to fix their mistakes as they head to Monmouth this weekend.

#10. VMI -

Well....this game went about as everyone expected. The Keydets were rolled by Toledo by a tune of 66-3. Not to mention...this happened:
